In the System Variables find the PATH, press edit and add the Display Changer folder, like so: You do that by right clicking on the Start button and going to System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environmental Variables. After you install Display Changer you have to add the folder of its installation in the PATH of Windows, so that you can invoke it from everywhere. And I can change the screen bit depth to 10 bit in this "might or might not real FSE" mode which should not be possible in legacy borderless mode (but the new special borderless mode is not available for legacy applications, so.).ĭc64 dc64.exe -refresh=60You can substitute refresh rates for resolutions. And yes, my screen do flicker with Alt+Tab and yes, it's definitely Windows 10 (TH2). Nah, I don't think this is emulated FSE in borderless, that would make no sense. Oh, and I can turn off Vsync in this "might or might not real FSE mode", so. So, I don't every really care if it's just emulated or not because it works as I expect it to work, all expected benefits included. My old DX11 games still run a little bit faster in FSE mode on Win10 than they do in their legacy borderless mode. I think FSE is still here in Windows 10 for DirectX<=11.x and OpenGL<=4.x or might even DX12 and Vulkan 'Win32 Desktop' applications to use at will and it's only those 'Modern applications' with DX12 which are restricted to the new GDI+ interface formats (the new border-less mode or that special borderless which let's them bypass Vsync but not everything like FSE did) or might practically applies to every DX12 application (as an artificial limitation placed by MS to promote the 'Modern Application' framework with DX12? I am not sure). because in win 7 it works fine.Ĭlick to expand.Everybody keeps repeating this (but mostly those who did not update to windows 10 themself yet), although every single empirical evidence I have indicates otherwise. You should say windows 10 is a technical mess. The only thing is that the game itself is boring but thats for everyone to decide individually.īut saying its a technical mess is just totally unexperienced trashtalk. I ran vsr 1440p in windows 7 for this demo without any issues. so basically exclusive fullscreen doesnt exist anymore. The reason for it not working maybe that i guess you use windows 10.Īnd they changed their desktop window manager. thats also the reason why you can tab out so quickly in windows 10 even tho you dont have in on borderless but on thats bull. Windows 10 basically handles EVERYthing thats supposed to be "fullscreen" now as emulated fullscreen and not exclusive fullscreen anymore.
